Leaders Call for Inclusion in Ruto’s Government, Marking Shift in Lower Eastern Politics
In a significant political shift, prominent Kamba leaders, spearheaded by the influential Anzauni clan, have announced their decision to abandon opposition politics and throw their weight behind President William Ruto’s administration, citing years of marginalization and lack of development in the region.
The declaration was made during a grand Thanksgiving dinner hosted by National Liberal Party (NLP) leader and Anzauni Patron Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli at his lavish residence in Misuuni, Kitui Central. The gathering, attended by influential leaders from across the region, marked a turning point as they vowed to demand their rightful place in government.
“We refuse to remain spectators in Kenya’s development journey,” proclaimed Dr. Muli to resounding applause. “The Anzauni clan has chosen to work with the government of the day. It’s time we moved from the sidelines to the decision-making table to secure the future of our people.”
Amid cheers, the leaders openly called on President Ruto to appoint a Cabinet Secretary from the Ukambani region, signaling their readiness to shift allegiance from the opposition to the Kenya Kwanza government.
Anzauni elder David Mwoni delivered a blunt message: “Our region has suffered neglect due to poor political choices. It’s time to change course. The Kamba community must align with the winning side for the sake of progress.”
Business tycoon Tom Luusa, former Kitui Central parliamentary aspirant Moses Banda, and Engineer Dennis Mwangangi, a former Kitui South MP aspirant, echoed these sentiments. They warned that continued alignment with the opposition could further isolate the region and stunt its development.
“For years, our people have been left behind because of misplaced loyalty. This is no longer about politics it’s about survival,” Engineer Mwangangi emphasized. “If President Ruto is serious about fostering peace and unity, he must give Kambas a Cabinet Secretary. Our place at the national table is non-negotiable.
The Thanksgiving dinner evolved into a passionate call for unity and proactive government engagement. Insiders revealed that discussions with senior Kenya Kwanza officials are already underway, with the aim of securing significant appointments and development projects for the region.
As this dramatic realignment unfolds, the spotlight is now on President Ruto. Will he heed the call and welcome Ukambani leaders into his fold? The stakes are high, and this pivotal moment could redefine the region’s role in Kenya’s national politics, setting the stage for a new chapter in its development journey.
