Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli and Party Leaders Call for Immediate Action to End Bloodshed
The National Liberal Party (NLP), led by Party Leader Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli, today joined hundreds of residents, activists, religious leaders, and community stakeholders in a peaceful demonstration in Kitui Town to protest the recent wave of killings and insecurity that has left families grieving and communities living in fear.
The demonstration, which began at Kaveta Roundabout at 10:00 a.m., brought together citizens from across Kitui County under the rallying call: “Stop Killing Our People in Kitui.” Participants marched peacefully while demanding justice for victims, enhanced security measures, and lasting peace throughout the county.
Leading the march, Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli condemned the loss of innocent lives and called upon the national government and security agencies to act swiftly and decisively to restore public confidence and guarantee the safety of all residents.
“Our people deserve to live in peace and dignity. No family should have to endure the pain of losing a loved one to violence. Today we stand united with the people of Kitui to demand justice, accountability, and protection for every citizen,” said Dr. Muli.
National Liberal Party Secretary General Omondi K’oyoo echoed the sentiments, emphasizing that security is a fundamental right and not a privilege.
“The continued loss of lives is unacceptable. We are here to send a clear message that enough is enough. The people of Kitui deserve peace, justice, and a government that prioritizes their safety and well-being,” said K’oyoo.
Other NLP officials who attended the demonstration called for stronger collaboration between security agencies, local leaders, and community members to address the root causes of violence and prevent further loss of life.
Throughout the demonstration, participants carried placards bearing messages such as “Stop Bloodshed,” “Our Lives Matter,” “No More Killings,” “Peace Now,” and “Justice for All.” The event remained peaceful and orderly as demonstrators voiced their concerns and appealed for urgent intervention.
The demonstrators collectively demanded:
- Immediate investigations into recent killings and prosecution of those responsible.
- Enhanced security operations to protect residents across Kitui County.
- Support and justice for affected families.
- Greater commitment by authorities to safeguarding human life and maintaining peace.
The National Liberal Party reaffirmed its commitment to standing with citizens in the pursuit of justice, security, and accountable leadership. Party leaders urged all stakeholders to work together to ensure that Kitui remains peaceful, united, and safe for future generations.
The demonstration concluded with calls for continued vigilance, community unity, and peaceful engagement as residents seek lasting solutions to the insecurity challenges facing the county.
